Bradgate Park is Leicestershire's medieval deer park north of Leicester, spanning over 830 acres with 550 red and fallow deer. The landscape includes the ruins of Bradgate House, the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey, and the UK's oldest fossils. Wildlife-rich grounds attract visitors for walking and exploring heritage. Swithland Wood, an ancient woodland covering 170 acres, adjoins the park as a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, with rocky outcrops and old quarries. There's a free-to-visit Visitor Centre and two tearooms.
Summer: open until up to 8:30pm (sunset). Winter: closes at sunset, earlier in the day. Check the opening-times page on bradgatepark.org before visiting.
