Abbey Park car park, 21 Abbey Park Rd, LE4 5AQ: open 7.30am, closing times on the onsite notice board; up to 2h GBP2.20, up to 3h GBP3.30, up to 4h GBP4.40, up to 12h GBP9.90; 92 spaces, 2.10m height restriction, electric car charging (Leicester City Council car parks record).

Abbey Park is Leicester's premier public park, opened in 1882. It features formal gardens, a sensory garden, boating lake, miniature railway (operated by Leicester Society of Model Engineers), children's play area with paddling pool, pets corner, tennis courts, bowling green, bandstand, visitor centre and Peppercorns cafe. The park includes the archaeological sites of Leicester Abbey and the ruins of Cavendish House. It is Grade II* listed on Historic England's Register of Parks and Gardens and has regularly won the Green Flag Award. The River Soar flows through the park which is free to enter.

Some attractions, including the cafe and miniature railway, operate seasonally. Miniature railway runs most Sunday afternoons from April until October (council visitor guide).
