Bagshaw Museum is a Victorian Gothic house that once belonged to a mill owner, now filled with objects from around the world and stories of the local area. Younger visitors can explore an Egyptian tomb display, South Asian galleries and an African gallery where they can make music, and there is also a recreated Victorian seaside day to step into. Local stories about Batley's well-known biscuit firm and its variety club sit alongside the rest of the collections. The museum stands inside a wooded park with lakeside paths and a children's play area, so a trip can combine indoor exploring with a walk outside. It suits families who want an unusual indoor outing with plenty to look at, followed by room to run around in the grounds.
