What’s there

  • Limited parking

Limited parking at the museum on Foundry Street, so the museum recommends its free Park and Ride bus from Dewsbury on event days (10am to 4pm). Blue badge holders who cannot use the bus should contact the museum in advance to reserve a space by the building.

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

A volunteer-run transport museum that preserves buses and coaches from the West Riding of Yorkshire. The collection includes some of the only surviving Guy Wulfrunian buses and vehicles from local operators, some restored to running order and others still under restoration. Visiting is limited: the museum does not open on a regular weekly basis, so families are best served by its open days, which are held a few times a year and sometimes include free shuttle bus rides between the museum and Dewsbury town centre. Children interested in vehicles will enjoy seeing the buses up close and hearing from the volunteers who look after them. The site is a registered charity, and the trust also runs school visits and takes its vehicles to rallies and events elsewhere in the region.
