Tropiquaria sits in and around a Grade II listed radio transmitting station on the West Somerset coast, and the site has been turned into a small zoo and animal sanctuary. Families can walk through the reptile house, the aquarium and the nocturnal house, then explore several acres of outdoor enclosures that hold animals from around the world, many of them rescues. Indoor and outdoor play areas give younger children a place to burn off energy between exhibits, and there is a restaurant on site for a break. Daily talks and animal encounters run through the day, and the venue also hosts birthday parties and school visits. It suits a relaxed family outing where animals, a bit of local history and some conservation work come together.
