Whirlow Hall Farm is a working farm of roughly 138 acres on the hills above Sheffield, run by an education and environmental charity. Families can meet the farm animals, watch livestock and growing spaces at work, and use the outdoor playground. Guided farm tours are offered to visitors at weekends and during school holidays, with the chance to see and sometimes feed or handle animals. The Barn cafe and farm shop make use of produce grown on the site, and there is a sheltered area where groups can eat a packed lunch. The farm also holds seasonal events through the year, such as lambing days, a farm fayre and tractor rides, which suit younger children. Because the charity works with schools and groups, the site is set up for class visits as well as casual days out. Visits are outdoors, so weather and footwear matter, and the open days are limited to certain days of the week.
Autumn-term free class visits Sep to Dec; seasonal fayres and lambing days through the year.
