The British Lawnmower Museum is an independent museum on Shakespeare Street in Southport that follows the history of the lawnmower from early hand-powered and horse-drawn machines to modern robot mowers. Visitors see restored vintage machines, including models from British engineering firms better known for cars, motorcycles and aircraft, and a gallery of mowers once owned by well-known people. A separate display covers lawnmower racing. The museum belongs to a business that also restores and sells garden machinery, so the collection sits alongside a working workshop and shop. Guided tours can be booked in advance, which helps older children get more from the story of how the machines developed. Its indoor galleries suit a wet day out and children interested in engines, design and everyday industrial history.
