Nuffield Place is a modest mid-20th-century house in the village of Huntercombe, just off the A4130 between Henley and Wallingford, run by the National Trust. It was the home of William Morris, Lord Nuffield, founder of the Morris Motor Company, and his wife, and it is furnished much as they left it in the 1930s Art Deco style. Younger visitors often enjoy spotting the small details, such as the hidden tool cupboard in Lord Nuffield's bedroom, the clocks and the wireless. Lady Nuffield's Wolseley Eight is on display in the garage and is one of the few historic National Trust cars that still runs. Outside there is an Arts and Crafts garden with a rockery, lawns and a woodland walk that is carpeted with bluebells in spring. A second-hand bookshop and a light refreshments kiosk sit in the Common Room. It suits families with an interest in history, cars or gardens, and the grounds give space to stretch legs after the house.
