Thame Museum sits in a former Victorian court house on the High Street and tells the story of the town from Neolithic times to the present day. The star exhibit is a rare Elizabethan wall painting, displayed in a re-created merchant's room with a touch-screen display that lets visitors see and hear a scene from Thame life in the 1590s. Other galleries cover Civil War history, a restored Victorian perambulator and a permanent gallery dedicated to Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees. Families can join in interactive activities, a dressing-up corner, pre-school story time, school holiday events and family trails. A changing programme of exhibitions and monthly talks gives return visitors a reason to come back. Admission is free, and the museum is run by volunteers.
