Waterperry Gardens is a long-established garden in the Oxfordshire countryside, a short drive east of Oxford. Families can wander the ornamental gardens, look round the Museum of Rural Life in an eighteenth-century granary full of old farm and gardening tools, and visit the parish church within the estate. There is an outdoor children's play area for younger visitors, and children's trails run through the gardens during school holidays, often with seasonal themes such as Easter and Christmas. An open-air amphitheatre hosts family theatre and opera over the summer. The Teashop serves homemade food and is a comfortable place for a family break. Children are admitted free to the gardens, and dogs are not allowed in the paid gardens, so check before bringing one.
