Whitehall is a timber-framed house dating from around 1500, set in the heart of Cheam Village and run by the London Borough of Sutton as a free local museum. Children can explore the authentic rooms and compare how families lived across the centuries, from a Tudor kitchen to a Victorian parlour and study bedroom. The displays touch on Nonsuch Palace, the Civil War and the long association with Cheam School, and the garden includes a medieval well. Exhibitions rotate through the year and the house runs family activities and events, including adventure trails for younger visitors. A small tea room on site makes it an easy stop during a village visit. The house is a good fit for families who enjoy history brought to life in an old building rather than a large modern attraction.
