Ipswich Golf Club is one of Suffolk's premier golfing venues, set on heathland at Purdis Heath on the eastern outskirts of Ipswich. The club offers two courses: the James Braid-designed 18-hole Purdis Heath course (opened 1928) and the 9-hole Bixley course (opened 1967), which is the casual pay-and-play option with no handicap certificate required. Families can book junior coaching with the PGA professional team (individual, group and junior sessions), juniors pay reduced green fees on the Bixley course, and the club runs an annual Junior Open competition. Visitors are welcome: Bixley tee times can be booked up to 7 days in advance, while Purdis Heath tee times must be pre-booked via the office and require a handicap certificate.
