David Lloyd Ipswich is a premium health and leisure club on the outskirts of Ipswich town centre, with plenty on offer for families. The club has a 25m indoor pool and a 20m outdoor pool that stays open all year round, plus two kids' splash pools, dedicated family changing rooms and a pool bar and terrace. Children aged 3 months to 16 years can join in free sports, games, arts and crafts and supervised sessions in the Kids Club, including action-packed Scooter Squad for 5-11 year olds, while the crèche welcomes children aged 3 months to 5 years. Family swimming, tennis coaching for ages 3-18, Swim England swimming lessons and Holiday Club activities run throughout the year, and the club also hosts children's birthday parties. There is free on-site parking, a spa with sauna and steam room, and a Clubroom serving family lunches.
Questions parents ask
- Is there a café, or should we bring food and drink?
- There's an onsite café, and there's also a pool bar and terrace available in spring and summer. You can eat without leaving the club.
- Can I manage with a buggy, and will older and younger children both be entertained?
- We haven't confirmed buggy-friendly access, so contact the club directly. Both ages will find activities: there are kids' splash pools, a crèche for the youngest, and programs from Cinema Club and Scooter Squad to tennis and swimming coaching for older children.
- Do we need to book in advance, or can we just turn up?
- The page does not state whether advance booking is needed for day visits. Contact the club to confirm whether you can visit without booking or if membership is required.
- What should we bring that people often forget?
- We haven't confirmed a picnic area, so you may not need to bring food. Bring towels and sun cream in summer, as there's a pool bar terrace that's popular in spring and summer months.
