Standing Stone Stables is a friendly family-run riding school set on Trencrom Lane near St Ives in Cornwall, with lovely views over Carbis Bay. Owner Natalie Stevens and her team teach on their own well-loved ponies and horses, specialising in building confidence in the saddle and helping young riders learn what it is like to care for a horse or pony.
There is a 40x30 rubber arena and a 20x40 rubber arena, plus a cross-country schooling field for the summer and plenty of lovely hacking country nearby. Lessons suit everyone from total beginners and returning riders to those wanting to improve their flatwork and jumping, with group and one-to-one sessions available.
Kids love the Glitter and Groom experience, where they decorate a pony before their first ride, and the popular hobby horse sessions, which are a fun way for children to burn off energy and enjoy time with friends. The yard is affiliated with the Pony Club, so there are plenty of opportunities for young riders to get involved in shows and competitions.
All sessions must be booked in advance through the Standing Stone Stables website, so check the booking page for availability and session times.
