Flicka Donkey Sanctuary

The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary (registered charity no. 1153858) has provided rescue and sanctuary care in South Cornwall since 1995. Founded by Mary Berryman and celebrating 30 years of rescue work, the sanctuary is home to over 70 rescued donkeys and around 30 horses and ponies, most saved from abuse, neglect and abandonment. Visitors can stroll the concreted walkways around the paddocks (in summer the donkeys are out in the fields; from around November they move into warm barns), watch the animals, and enjoy the Tea Bray'k vegan tea room serving light lunches, drinks and homemade cake from 11am-4pm, plus the Gift Cabin for donkey-themed souvenirs. All proceeds support the charity's work. Entry to the sanctuary is free, with donations gratefully received. Dogs on leads are welcome. The site is wheelchair accessible with parking close to the entrance, access ramps into the tea room and gift shop, and disabled toilet facilities. Groups of more than 10 people should book in advance. The sanctuary also offers pre-booked Donkey Experience Days (15+; GBP95) and Junior Donkey Experience Days (ages 8-15; GBP70), plus educational and community visits for schools, care homes, clubs and societies. The Flicka Foundation was accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and named GFAS Outstanding Equine Sanctuary 2025.
