Woods Mill Nature Reserve is a free-to-visit Sussex Wildlife Trust reserve near Henfield in West Sussex - a prime example of the wetland and woodland countryside that once covered much of the wider area. Visitors can walk past old ponds and a lake, through ancient woodland, alongside streams and waterways, and out into unimproved meadows with wild hedgerows. The reserve is home to a rich mix of wetland and woodland habitats, including shallow scrapes created in winter 2023 that hold water after rain and provide habitat for wetland wildlife.
There is a car park, bike racks and toilets on site, and the reserve is open throughout the year. Entry is free but donations are welcome to help the Trust care for the reserve. Sussex Wildlife Trust runs family events and free drop-in activities at Woods Mill through the year - see the Trust's What's On pages for the current programme.
Please note that dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed at Woods Mill nature reserve at any time. The reserve is run by Sussex Wildlife Trust, the county's leading conservation charity.
