Hanging Rock Nature Reserve is a small woodland reserve beneath a magnificent 50 m high limestone cliff overlooking Lower Lough Macnean, in the Cuilcagh Mountain foothills between Belcoo and Florencecourt. A short path leads to the river resurgence (spring) at the cliff base, where water emerges from the limestone. The reserve protects one of Northern Ireland's finest ash woodlands, with yew and juniper clinging to the cliff face, plus mature oak, beech and willow in neighbouring Rossaa Wood. Red squirrels can occasionally be seen, and the elusive pine marten has been sighted in recent years. Free to visit, with limited roadside car parking. Part of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark.
