The National Motorcycle Museum is the largest British motorcycle museum in the world, with over 1000 machines from 170 different manufacturers in the collection, around 850 of which are on display at any one time across five huge indoor display halls. Opened in October 1984, the museum showcases the development of the motorcycle from pioneer machines dating back to 1898 through to modern British superbikes, all fully restored to manufacturers' original specifications.
Located directly on the J6 island of the M42 motorway opposite the NEC near Solihull, the museum offers free on-site parking, a ground-floor cafe and foyer food court with hot snacks, paninis, soups and cakes, and a museum shop. Disabled access is good: wheelchair and buggy access to most parts of the museum, wheelchairs available on free loan, accessible toilets on the ground floor, disabled parking near the entrance, and guide dogs are welcome.
Families are welcome and the museum runs schools and colleges learning visits, guided Highlights tours (pre-booked), and a huge free Museum Live open weekend each October. Admission prices: Adults GBP 17, Seniors GBP 17, Children 5-15 GBP 10, Family ticket GBP 45. The museum is open daily 8.30am to 5.30pm (last admission 4.30pm), closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Cashless policy - card payments only.
