The National Tramway Museum is an open-air heritage transport attraction where you ride vintage trams along a traditional village street into open countryside with views of the Derwent Valley. Explore a recreated period street with a pub and shops, and indoor exhibitions covering the history of horse, steam and electric trams, including inventions by Michael Holroyd Smith. Outdoors, there's a sculpture trail. Dogs are welcome across most of the site, including on the trams (usually the lower deck), though they must be kept on leads and are not permitted in the main café or indoor play area unless they are registered service dogs.
