Free public car and bus parking available all year. Disabled spaces in the main car park plus two further disabled spaces beside the lighthouse buildings.

Sumburgh Head combines a working lighthouse with a visitor centre and nature reserve exploring the site's geology, Iron Age history, and wildlife. You can tour the lighthouse and learn about its keepers, explore trails to spot puffins and whales, and discover archaeological finds. There's a gift shop and accommodation on site. A small charity runs it with help from summer visitor assistants. Parking and toilets are available.
Seasonal visitor attraction open Saturday 28 March to Sunday 4 October 2026. Outdoor facilities, car park and Nature Reserve open all year round.
