Free parking at Highdown Pit car park, Highdown Lane, Totland (PO39 0HY). Limited accessible parking at Needles Old Battery by prior arrangement (01983 754772).

Tennyson Down is a grassy chalk ridge at the western end of the Isle of Wight, rising to 147m above sea level. Owned and managed by the National Trust, it is open to the public with the Tennyson Trail and Isle of Wight Coast Path crossing the down. Families can walk to the Tennyson Monument for panoramic views over the Solent, Yarmouth and the Dorset coast, and spot grazing cattle and rabbits. The nearby Highdown Pit car park provides free parking.
