Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve was the first National Nature Reserve in Great Britain, established in 1951. Located in Wester Ross, it features a wealth of woodland, upland and island habitats around Loch Maree. NatureScot provides a visitor centre at Aultroy near Kinlochewe, with marked trails including a 1.5km Woodland Trail through ancient Caledonian pinewood and a 6.5km Mountain Trail offering extensive views of Loch Maree. Facilities include picnic areas, viewpoints, and access for all abilities. The reserve is home to golden eagles, Scottish crossbills, pine martens, red deer and otters, and features rare plants including ancient Caledonian pine woodland.

Visitor centre seasonal (Apr-Oct). Winter: reserve open, visitor centre and toilets closed.
