Achavandra is a family-run riding centre in Dornoch offering trail rides through woodland and hills, across award-winning beaches, and along scenic glens with views of lochs. For children aged 4 and above there are 30-minute lead-rein forest rides on safe ponies, half-hour or full-hour lessons, and hour-long mini treks through fields where you might spot rabbits, red kites and buzzards. Longer rides from the North Wilds base include a 2-hour trek through 200-year-old Scotch Pine forest with chances to see red deer, then along the beach where seals haul up regularly, and a 3-hour ride over sandy dunes. The centre also runs a Saddle Club on Sunday mornings with horse care and riding. Adults can book full-day countryside rides. Accommodation is available at the venue's bed and breakfast in Dornoch.
