Saint Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral stands on the hill from which the City of Armagh derives its name – Ard Mhacha, the Height of Macha. By tradition, Saint Patrick came to Armagh and built his first church here in the year 445. This cathedral, which stands on the site of Patrick's 'Great Stone Church', continues as a place of Christian prayer and worship and is widely recognised as the 'Ecclesiastical Capital' of Ireland.

Visitors can explore the cathedral with self-guided tour leaflets available in 12 languages (including English, French, Spanish, German, Polish, Italian, Dutch, Irish, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Braille). Guided group tours must be pre-booked and last approximately 30-45 minutes. The cathedral is a 4-star Historic Attraction and features a small gift shop.

Summer (April-September): Mon-Sat 9am-5pm. Winter (October-March): Tue-Sat 9am-1:30pm, closed Mondays. Group tours must be pre-booked; crypt visits subject to staff availability.
