Savernake Forest is a historical woodland south of Marlborough with over a thousand years of recorded history. It is designated a Special Site of Scientific Interest and a registered important historic park. The forest contains one of the country's oldest trees, the Big Bellied Oak, visible from the A346. There are surfaced and non-surfaced walking paths through varied landscapes and habitats. Picnic areas are available throughout the forest. Gender-neutral toilets are open from Easter to the end of October half term. The forest is free to explore year-round, with parking available at Postern Hill.
