Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum, known as 'the hidden gem of Northumberland', is the ancestral seat of the Earls Grey since 1319. Explore beautiful gardens created by the 5th Earl Grey and his family, wander through the arboretum — a United Nations of shrubs and trees covering over 65 acres — or enjoy the woodland walks. Children will love the play area, and families can take a break in the Earl Grey Tea House for a bite to eat and a cup of Earl Grey Tea. The gardens feature spring bulbs, a woodland garden, summer borders, a rockery, and a wild bog garden around a pond. The Visitor Centre tells the story of the gardens and the Grey family.
The venue is closed mid-Nov to early Feb. Early season (Feb 7-Mar 31) closes at 4pm. Main season (Apr 1-Sep 30) closes at 6pm. Late season (Oct 1-mid Nov) closes at 4pm.
