The museum features historic locomotives, rolling stock, and interactive exhibits telling the story of the region's railway heritage. Free museum entry (donations welcome). Free parking. Charges apply for heritage train rides which run on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Trains do not run on Saturdays. Managed by North East Museums on behalf of North Tyneside Council. The venue also runs free activities for kids as part of the Ways to Play Programme, and special events such as Dinky Dinosaur Adventure Days during school holidays.
