A pair of distinctive hills with volcanic origins, rising from the Shropshire landscape. Two waymarked walking routes circle and climb the reserve: green signs mark the easier path, purple the steeper ascent to the summit, which rewards the climb with spectacular views. The woodland holds hazel, oak, field maple, holly and yew; in spring it fills with bluebells and migrant birds nesting in provided boxes, with dippers by the stream. Lower slopes support old meadowland where you might spot green woodpeckers, small blue and orange-tip butterflies, and wild thyme in summer. Sheep and cattle graze at certain times; dogs are welcome on leads where animals are present.
