Ryton Pools spreads over 100 acres with surfaced paths giving access to different habitats home to birds and wildlife, plus an adjoining ancient woodland, Ryton Wood. Two play areas sit at either end: the Pirate Play Area and Trail near the main car park, and the Foothills Play Area with climbing frames on the far side. A miniature railway runs Sunday afternoons from Easter to September. Picnic benches are dotted throughout, or grab refreshments at Farmers Fayre Café in the main courtyard. Swimming is not permitted in the lakes and pools.
