Winter Gardens is a large Victorian entertainment complex in the middle of Blackpool town centre, opened in 1878 and set within several acres of connected halls. For families it is best known as a theatre venue, with a programme that includes children's and family shows, musicals and seasonal productions alongside comedy and music. The glass-domed Floral Hall and public spaces can be walked through as a visitor, and there are cafés and bars on site to break up a visit. The building has a grand, historic feel that older children often enjoy exploring, and it sits close to the Tower, the promenade and the other attractions along the Golden Mile. Tickets are sold per show, so a visit is usually planned around a particular performance, and families should check the programme for suitable productions before travelling.
