The Borders Distillery sits in the centre of Hawick in a converted Victorian industrial building. Its guided tours are led by the distillers themselves and take around 45 minutes, showing visitors how the spirits are made while the distillery is in full use. Under-18s go free on the tour when accompanied by an adult, so older children interested in how things are made can take part. The building has plenty to look at, including high glass ceilings and furniture salvaged from the original workshop, and the tour covers the town's manufacturing history. Visits finish in the brand shop, which sells the distillery's whisky, gin, vodka and gifts. It suits families on a wet day in the Scottish Borders, and because the group size is capped, booking ahead is advisable at busy times.
Tours run all year round, as it is a working distillery.
