Audley's Castle is a late-medieval tower house on a rocky height above Strangford Lough in County Down, cared for by the Northern Ireland state as a historic monument. A path leads to the castle, so families can make a short outdoor outing with views over the lough. The tower is three storeys high and has a distinctive pair of flanking turrets linked by an arch, which older children may enjoy spotting. The castle sits close to Audley's Field, which was used as a filming location for a well-known television fantasy series, so fans of that programme may want to visit. The wider Castle Ward estate lies nearby. The site is open-air, so it suits dry weather and sturdy footwear.
