Narrow Water Castle is a late sixteenth-century tower-house with an enclosing bawn wall, standing on a promontory by Carlingford Lough just outside Warrenpoint. Its ruined stone shell still holds chambers at several levels, straight stairs, and small rooms set within the thickness of the walls, so older children can imagine how a garrison once lived and defended the site. The tower entrance, with its protected forebuilding and murder-hole, is a clear talking point for curious visitors. Views across the water open out from the high ground around the castle. It suits families who enjoy history, outdoor walks and a short, low-key visit rather than a busy attraction, and it is a simple stop to combine with the surrounding coastal scenery.
