Surf City is the leisure pool at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the large sports complex in the middle of Sheffield. The pool area is built for splashing rather than lane swimming, with a lazy river that loops around the outside of the water, a wave machine, and a shallow baby and toddler pool with a small slide. A separate smaller pool sits beside the main one and has a disabled hoist, so the area is designed to work for families with very young children and for disabled swimmers as well as older children. Ponds Forge also runs swimming lessons for children and a range of sessions aimed at younger swimmers, so families with little ones are well catered for. Children under a set height and swimmers in general should check current session rules before visiting, as the flumes and some features have changed over the years. Parents should expect a city-centre swimming complex with changing rooms and a café on site.
