Tayto Castle is the headquarters of the Tayto crisp brand, set in the grounds of a rebuilt 19th-century castle on the edge of Tandragee in County Armagh. Visitors join a guided tour of the fully operational factory floor, following potatoes down the production line and through the flavouring station, with plenty of samples along the way. Families with children often enjoy the visit to meet Mr Tayto, the brand mascot, for photos in the courtyard. The tour runs for around an hour and a half, with a fair amount of walking, and there is a gift shop at the end selling Tayto merchandise. Children must be over five on the day of the tour and those aged 16 or under need an adult with them. Tours run on weekdays only and must be booked in advance online. There is no catering on site, so families are advised to plan lunch in the town.
