Sherwood Forest is an ancient oak woodland with walking trails covering all fitness levels, from short nature routes to full-day walks among giant oaks over 500 years old. The Major Oak, a thousand-year-old tree, is the forest's natural icon. Year-round guided walks led by experts cover bat spotting, history and heritage. Summer activities include archery, axe throwing, and the Outlaw Treasure Trail. A visitor centre has a shop and cafe. Backpack hire is available to help children explore closer to nature.
