Alderford Lake is a private lake and outdoor leisure destination on Tilstock Road near Whitchurch in North Shropshire, open daily for families, groups and school trips. In summer the headline attraction is the 135-person inflatable Aquapark (from GBP18pp, suitable for ages 6+, opens 2 May) with slides, climbing frames and splash zones on the water. All year round families can book open-water swimming passes (GBP6.50 online), paddleboard, kayak, canoe or MEGA SUP hire, or take part in lessons and coached sessions for children. Land lovers can walk the lake, try the Escape Islands outdoor escape-room challenge (for 2-8 people), picnic, or eat at the lakeside Lakeside Kitchen cafe (open 9am-4:30pm, hot food until 3:30pm). Stay-the-lake bell tents and camping pitches extend the trip into a mini break. Entry is ticketed: peak day passes are GBP8.50 adult / GBP7.25 child online with cheaper off-peak general admission (child GBP1.40 online), and activities must be booked online in advance. The venue also runs events through the year including Alderfest, a Santa experience and a bonfire night, and welcomes dogs on site (kept out of the water). Note: in Aug 2026 the lake is open with moderate blue-green algae levels - visitors sign a risk acknowledgement and are advised to shower after swimming.
