Potteric Carr is a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve on the south-eastern edge of Doncaster, part of the floodplain of the River Torne. Covering 200 hectares of wetlands, grassland and woodland, it is a haven for birdwatchers - over 230 species of birds have been recorded, including bitterns and marsh harriers. Families can follow woodland trails and boardwalks, use the bird hides, and spot dragonflies, water voles and roe deer. The visitor centre (Mallard Way) has a cafe, gift shop, toilets, baby changing and wifi, with grazing cattle and Hebridean sheep roaming the reserve. Entry: adults GBP6, under-18s free.
