Concrete Waves is Newquay's world-class outdoor skatepark, located behind Newquay Zoo at Trenance Leisure Park. Opened in July 2018 and built by Maverick Skateparks to replace the original wooden skatepark, the facility was designed to meet the needs of the local wheeled-sports community and to serve riders both nationally and internationally.
The skatepark is made up of four distinct areas: a retro-style pool, an expansive street run, a stair set and an internationally significant bowl — geared for all abilities and disciplines, including professional-level riding. A Phase 2 extension opened in March 2024, adding a dedicated beginner 'Nursery Slope' with ramps, rails and obstacles designed for younger and novice riders, funded by Newquay Town Council, the Boardmasters Foundation and Cornwall Council.
Entry is completely free and open to all ages — skateboarding, BMX, scooters and rollerblading are all welcome, or you can simply sit and watch from the spectator seating. The park is managed by Newquay Town Council and has on-site lighting, CCTV, benches and toilets. Parking is available at the Trenance Leisure Park car park (run by Cornwall Council, free between 4pm and 9am).
