Cardiff Bay is a 500-acre freshwater lake and waterfront area in the heart of Cardiff, created by the Cardiff Bay Barrage. It's a fantastic family day out with something for everyone. The Bay offers a wide range of water sports including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and boat trips around the harbour. The Cardiff Bay Barrage features a children's play area, Skate Plaza, adiZone outdoor gym, and the RSPB-run Hafren Café. Families can enjoy walking and cycling along the flat, accessible barrage with spectacular views over the Severn Estuary. The Bay is also home to cultural attractions including the Wales Millennium Centre, Senedd building, Norwegian Church Arts Centre, and the Roald Dahl Plass piazza. Mermaid Quay offers waterfront dining with restaurants, cafes, and ice cream shops. The Cardiff Bay Wetland Reserve is an 8-hectare nature reserve with a boardwalk and viewing platform. Techniquest science discovery centre and the nearby Cardiff International White Water centre provide additional indoor and outdoor activities for children of all ages.

Open access waterfront area. Water sports and boat trips may operate seasonally (typically spring to autumn). Cardiff Bay Barrage and promenade accessible year-round.
