Freshwater West (also known as Fresh West) is a stunning sandy beach on the Pembrokeshire coast near Castlemartin, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. This south-westerly facing beach offers some of the best waves in Wales and is a favourite spot for experienced surfers. The mile-long beach is flanked by extensive sand dunes and rock pools, making it a great family day out for rock pooling, walking and watching surfers. Freshwater West gained fame as the filming location for Dobby's Shell Cottage in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and also served as a filming location for Ridley Scott's Robin Hood and the 2015 film 'The Girl Who Invented Kissing'. There are two free car parks and toilet facilities available. Note: strong rip currents occur so swimming is not advised for inexperienced swimmers.
