The River Spey (Scottish Gaelic: Uisge Spè) is a river in the northeast of Scotland, flowing 107 miles (172 km) from Loch Spey in the Scottish Highlands to the Moray Firth at Spey Bay. It is the third longest and fastest-flowing river in Scotland, famous for salmon fishing, whisky distilleries, and water sports.

The Spey offers excellent flat water and white water canoeing and kayaking, with sections suitable for beginners to experienced paddlers. The river passes through stunning Highland scenery including the Cairngorms National Park, ancient forests, and the famous Speyside whisky region. The Speyside Way long-distance footpath follows the river from Newtonmore to the sea.

The river is a designated Ramsar Wetland site (River Spey - Insh Marshes) and Site of Special Scientific Interest, supporting diverse wildlife including salmon, trout, otters, and a wide variety of birdlife. Popular access points for water sports include Aberlour, Craigellachie, and downstream sections toward Spey Bay.

During the fishing season we send out Spey fishing email once per week.
