Bishop Auckland town recreation ground is a 43,000 square metre park in the town centre with four tennis courts, a bowling green and a football pitch, along with play equipment and a BMX/skate park. The site, which dates back to 1912, is used by a bowls club, tennis club and Sunday league football team. It is open all year round and has been awarded a Green Flag Award.
