Newton Aycliffe Library and Leisure Centre boasts a state of the art gym, studios, two swimming pools, sports hall and library. The gym offers memberships which include swimming and classes. There is a brand-new sauna and steam room facility and the two swimming pools offer general swimming, family fun sessions, swimming lessons, Aqua Fit, Aqua Natal, Aqua Spin and are home to an amateur swimming club and the county only dedicated Waterpolo club. The centre also offers casual sports and activities in the sports hall, event spaces and rooms for hire and a range of children parties including pool parties. The centre has a double size indoor sports hall for football, badminton and netball. On-site facilities also include Athena Sports Academy gymnastics centre.
