The Sunderland Empire Theatre is a historic venue opened in 1907, located on High Street West in Sunderland city centre. One of the largest theatres in the North East with capacity for 2,000, it hosts the best of West End musicals, family-friendly pantomime, children's shows, comedy acts, concerts, dance performances and more. The theatre has a dedicated Family genre category and a popular annual pantomime. ATG INSPIRE runs a Theatre Summer School for young people. The auditorium features four tiers (Orchestra Stalls, Dress Circle, Upper Circle and Gallery) and is fully accessible with step-free access, a lift, and accessible toilets. The Box Office opens 90 minutes before performances.
