Rudyard Lake is a 168-acre reservoir stretching over 2.5 miles through the Staffordshire Moorlands, still supplying the canal system it was built for in 1797. The lake is the launch point for canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding, rowing boats (no pre-booking needed), and a new Edwardian-styled trip boat called the Sunray. There is sailing from the Dam, fishing for pike and other species, and a ridable miniature steam railway on the original trackbed. You can cycle along the shore, walk from a brief stroll to a full circuit, or eat at on-site facilities.
