Forde Abbey Fruit Farm is a pick-your-own fruit farm where families can head into the fields and gather their own fruit in season.
The fruit farm is located about a mile away from Forde Abbey House and Gardens, in Thorncombe on the Somerset/Dorset border. There is no entry fee to visit the fruit farm — you just pay for the fruit you pick.
Seasonal fruits available include: Strawberries (June-July), Raspberries (June-July), Gooseberries (June-July), Blackcurrants (July), and Redcurrants (July). There are also jostaberries and tayberries available later in the season.
The strawberries are grown at tabletop height for easier picking, perfect for little hands. The fruit farm spans 5 acres and is set in a peaceful rural location.
The fruit farm is open daily from June to August, 9:30am – 6pm, weather permitting. Check their website for current picking availability before visiting, or call 01460 30460 on poor weather days.
There is a kiosk selling ice cream and soft drinks. Free parking and toilets available. The ground is grassy — buggy-friendly. Dogs are welcome on a lead in the car park and picnic area but not in the fruit fields.
